Look, I've been there - in fact, I was there before everyone else was. As the first BBC journalist to go on TikTok - and as one of the first journalists in the UK at all to do so - I was the one who made a documentary declaring the first TikTok election for radio and television all the way back in 2020.

Newsrooms love declaring people "the first [insert social media platform here] politician". Andy Burnham might be the first to perform well on TikTok, but this reading is short-sighted. It actually has very little to do with the platform - and everything to do with what I've been badgering politicians to do since 2019.
